MOCO RECONNECT’S YOUTH ARTS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM PRESENTS: “Tha’ Block Party” – DMV Pride and Arts Festival for everyone, based in Wheaton, Maryland! The YAE fellowship members of MoCo Reconnect have planned a family-friendly community festival with the help of other non-profits to spread community awareness. Awareness for what, you may ask? Youth homelessness and education! We want to highlight some fantastic local artists to benefit our community’s understanding of youth housing insecurity and the many other obstacles they face. Our main goal is to connect the youth 16-24 to resources and possibilities waiting to be utilized. We also want to show our upcoming adults that we are a loving and supportive community in the DMV.

Pride Month 2023: TAKOMA PRIDE DAY
Takoma Pride is Sunday, June 11, 2023 We are celebrating our LGBTQ+ community during Takoma Pride Day on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. 10:00am Kids’ Pride Parade A Kids’ Pride Parade will start at the TPSS Co-op, 201 Ethan Allen Avenue at 10:00am (line up at 9:45am). All welcome to join and share messages of Pride! The parade will end at Laurel Ave. 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Face Painting by Jolie Faces 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Pride Photo Board at Laurel Ave Clocktower 11:00 am Drag Queen Storytime with Ms. Hazel The event is free and designed to inspire a love of reading, while teaching lessons of self-acceptance, diversity and respect. For children of all ages. Visitors are also welcome to share messages of Pride on Laurel Avenue where there will be chalk available in the closed street. Takoma Park’s rainbow crosswalks have been updated to celebrate diversity and acceptance every day!
